Translating Errors

Postby Lord_Archaon at 15 Dec 2009, 14:57

While editing WarFoundryPref.xml with notepad at Windows XP and try to use se and ru versions (the ones IBBoard corrected) i get this and this.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w272/Lord_Archaon/se_translation.jpg

And this is what i get when i use my translation.

To compare this is my translation in notepad and this is IBBoard's.
Mine:

IBBoard's

I don't know what causing it, but it's also the same stuff at my friend's PC, which lives about 50 Km from me. :(

How did you use those files? If you save them directly from the link in the ticket thread they won't work.

I d/l both from the source adn those worked as my GUI is filled with incomprehensible characters if I pick ru as lanfuage. ;-)

From the look of that last screenshot, you saved the file straight from the ticket (as Snowblizz mentioned). I've done it once or twice with .army files that Snowblizz posted and it doesn't work - Trac presents you with a web page showing the file contents (if it is a text file) and a "download in original format" link at the bottom of the page.

What you need to do is either click the link to the file in the ticket and then download the file from the bottom of that page to get just the XML, or go to the source code browser and do the same thing - click to the file then click the "original format" link at the bottom of the page. The "advanced" method is to check them out of Subversion directly (which is probably what Snowblizz does) but that is a different topic :)

Interestingly, the screenshot of what you see when you open your translation is not what I see. What I get is a load of Western characters (various accents) in Notepad, but the proper Cyrillic (because of the encoding) in WarFoundry.

No problem, it is annoying that it does that at times, but it can also be useful since you don't have to download to view. What they almost need to do is put a "download" link/image just after it in the ticket so that you can easily choose to download or view :)
