Okay, Italian is now in (we have English, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Swedish so far) and the fix for the "Equip All" radio button is in as well, so we should be multi-lingual :)

Keep an eye out for the next WarFoundry release - it'll be our most multi-lingual yet! (possibly mid-week - I'm on a long one-day work trip London tomorrow)

first think you should do, is check if somebody is working on a translation in french, if not just say you will begin, the more langauge warfoundry is translated to the better.

Hi Dreadaxe. As it says on our Get Involved page, please sign up on our Dev site and attach the translation to ticket 203. I'll then add it to source control and put it in the next release, plus people can download it and use it themselves by putting it in the "translations" folder.

Thanks.

In case you're not watching the source control commits, there'll be more strings for people to translated in the next beta release: changes ;)

Also, sorry for getting the language code for Swedish wrong - it is SV not SE - and if you don't like your language name being lower-case then complain at Microsoft, as that's just what .Net gives me.

Hey there,

Dreadaxe pointed me to your WF programm and it looks really nice. I started a German translation and will upload it in the evening. :)

Cheers
Blacky

I just uploaded the German translation to trac. There are some open issues:

* Layout is broken here and there where text fields are too small.
* Plural forms aren't correctly supported (0 points, 1 point, 2+ points).

Thanks for the German translation, I'll get that added shortly. In the mean time, it should be possible for everyone else to use it with existing downloads by downloading it and putting it in the "translations" folder.

As for broken layouts, that's one of the unfortunate problems of a) languages that don't do short translations and b) the WinForms way of having absolute positioning of controls. I already found a couple of situations with the French translations, but if you can point me to some more (perhaps start a ticket) then I'll fix them where I can.

Ye... German tends to be generally "longer" than English versions. I can try to use shorter strings, but that's not always a "good" solution. And even big companies have problems to fit such stuff. :/

I'll take another look and try to improve the texts. One current example is the "Thank you" in the about form. I translated it to "Vielen Dank an" and the text gets cut off where it could be wrapped. IIRC there's an attribute for the text field which controls this behaviour.

I was planning to restructure the About dialog anyway as it was just a quick and dirty hack to have something there. There are options to wrap text and to auto-size text boxes, but AFAIK there isn't anything that is quite as successful at it as container-based layouts like GTK.

In the case of labels next to multi-line boxes then I just need to make the label multi-lined, but in the case of labels next to single line boxes then it becomes more difficult to make enough space for all translations but I'll do my best.

FWIW, Finnish tends to long text as well. Or at least so I read. I haven't attempted a translation yet, I'm a bit lazy.
