Update to the last request: The Guard vehicles should have their camo removed as well (same thread as before)

Hmm... I'd rather like to see a helmet on those Space Marine Commanders and Sergeants, but would that be possible? I think it was done in the Lamenters Mod (the screenshot showed a helmeted Commander), but would the helmets themselves have to be made as a mod? If so, it won't be playable online... :(

And on that topic, could the Tau XV22 Commander be replaced with an XV8 one (but still trim-coloured)? Only one Tau has a '22, and that's Shadowsun! (and Kais too, which kinda blew Shadowsun's uniquness... ) I think avoiding a mod would be a good thing, to make it online-compatible, but considering the XV8's size I doubt that this one can be done effectively without said modding.

p.s. Sorry about the messy layout  .

As with some of the other requests in this thread/on this forum (e.g. Tyranid Hunters with Nid parts on them) then it would theoretically be possible without being a mod because it is an art change, but it would be a model change rather than a texture change.

The Lamenters mod used (IIRC) one of the "Closer To Codex" models for the Commander, which is why he has the helmet. In the same vein then it should be possible to replace the XV22 with an XV8, but it would need to be an almost identically rigged model.

Texture changes are much easier than model changes, and unfortunately I've got neither the software nor the skill to do model changes.

Aww... well, I guess someone might (possibly) read this who can do it... is the Closer to Codex actually a mod (i.e. is it playable online?) or just a lot of texture changes? :|

EDIT:  On a different note, can someone get the decorations off the Daemonhammer? How many Space Marines have Inquisition-only weapons anyway? It'd be better if it were just good ol' Thunder Hammer. :)

I think Closer to Codex was a mod, but it was also (unless I'm remembering incorrectly) a collection of alternate and additional models that people could use for their own mods so that they could save on re-doing the work.

You might get someone here who models, but it's not likely. Most of the posters have always been texturers since modelling requires the (rather expensive) 3D Studio Max. Textures, on the other hand, can be done entirely using free software if you want.

What decoration do you want removing from the Daemonhammer? I'll have to check, but is it the parchment strip?

As for being Inquisition only, that could just be in Table Top. Both TT and DoW are games set in the 40K universe. DoW isn't a computer game of TT, hence why it can sometimes stray from the TT rules ;) Maybe someone in the Imperium decided that all of these Force Commanders needed these powerful weapons.

Hm... but Gabriel Angelos was given what was supposed to be a rare and specialised weapon, specifically made for fighting off the forces of Chaos. A Thunder Hammer would be more representative of most Chapters, while still befitting the idea of a massive, powerful and ancient aretefact. I always thought the Godsplitter Daemonhammer was a unique, one-of-a-kind weapon that should be confined to the campaign(s). I see what you mean about straying from the rules though... (whose clever idea was it to put nine Marines to a squad? eh? )

Well, the big "I" and anything else that ties it to the Inquisition, but I guess it would be a bit boring if it were just plain stone/metal, so maybe just leave the trim on the edges.

P.S. I' describing the Daemonhammer from (admittedly faint) memory here, so I'm going to check in-game to make sure I' not talking complete rubbish.

EDIT: I've had another look at the Hammer. The only Inquisition-related part is the I that runs along both sides. Everything else is generic enough to stay.

That'd probably be Games Workshop's ;) Ever since 3rd edition you've been able to buy whatever size squad you want. I guess Relic limited it at 9 rather than 10, but that lets you add a special character (FC, Librarian, Chaplain, Apothecary)

Seems like an easy enough change to remove a letter from it. The quality of the results will depend on how large the texture is and what can be cloned over the old area.

Oh, ok... I'm new to Games Workshop games, so I guess I wouldn't know about anything before fourth edition. Well, I suppose 9 was good for a neat square formation... I heard that in Rogue Trader you could give Space Marines Shurikan weapons, so at least DoW isn't that behind!

They're the same unit sizes in 4th Ed as 3rd Ed - 4+1 to 9+1 vs 5 to 10 (including Sergeant). And yes, Rogue Trader kept the 'balance' by letting everyone have access to all weapons.

9 is better for formations than 10 (which gives you 1x10, 2x5, 2x4+2 or 3x3+1) so that may be part of their reason for limiting squad size. It also looks good when the Sergeant is in the middle with his back banners.

That's getting off-topic though. Any more discussion along those lines should be a new thread in Sideline Games or Main Games (depending on the W40K/DOW leaning)

Hey guys, First post on this forum, so hi :D, i love you're work IBBoard, and the site as a whole is great too.
right, i know you're probably overloaded with stuff (14 Skins!) but i got one small request, an Iron Warriors reskin, of the basic Chaos Marine (although anything else, Predators, Lords, whatever would be awesome) for DC. all i really want is Black and yellow chevrons on the armour in a few places, look at some painted iron warriors for an idea, I.E. on the bolters, maybe a bit on one shoulder, whatever. anything else Iron Warriors-y on them would be awesome too, but mainly chevrons. as i said it would be awesome if you could do this on other units too, but i understand that thats a lot of work.
if you could do this it would be brilliant.

P.S. does anyone know if theres a mod that adds a Metallic colour to the army painter or anything that would give me metallic Iron Warriors rather than a vaguely metal-coloured Grey heh

Thanks again if you do this.

Interesting idea, if a bit chapter specific.

As for metallic colours, all that is possible in the Army Painter is standard colours that can be selected from any colour picker using Red, Green and Blue as its values. There are ways to make things shiny (reflection layers on the RSH file) but they're not selectable, they're always there, and they aren't really metallic either, just shiny.

My fiend tells me that SoulStorm will give the Force Commander a Powerfist instead. If so, don't worry about my request- I'll just wait for SS!

From a quick look at the model then his default equipment doesn't seem to have changed at all.

Image

I'll tell you whether he has a powerfist in his data file in a little bit, but based on the list of weapons in the Soulstorm demo data then I'd say he doesn't. They may have shipped the old DC Space Marine data, but they've included Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle data so I'd have thought the Marines had an update in the demo as well. And they can't just have given it to him in his data file but left the data file for the weapon out or else the game would crash on start up.

[edit] Nope, the file has bolt pistol and plasma pistol with power sword or daemon hammer. Unless Relic/Iron Lore change it between the demo and the release then he'll still have his old equipment.

Aww... I guess I'll leave the job of "fluffing" the commander to the expert. Either that or I could take up skinning and do it myself. Actually... the latter sounds like a good idea. But like I said in another thread, I never finish what I start :(. Still, I might start it anyway :). Just a thought...

EDIT: My friend has corrected me- it' just a bit of wargear  (I think). I've only played- and completed- the campaign with the Sisters, so I haven't checked myself.

I would like to see some veteran laurels on space marine helmets. I understand the asking for them to be sereant only is a bit of a moot point, so laurels for all helmets.
