sister hair issue

Postby Seaglen at 23 Mar 2008, 14:57

i have recently been reskinning the sisters, and have come across an issue.
when i make the hair teamcoulourable, it only works for some sisters ingame.
is this due to more files i am missing, or sue to a randomisation on the units?
any info would be appreciated

the models don't got any randomization except for some hair color texture randomization on the models without helmets (and cannones)

ah ok. is there any way of making all sisters in battle sister squads hair the same, via teamcolouring, and not just a few of them?

well set all haircolors to the same setting using default_(primary,secondary,trim,weapon,eyes) and it will all get set to the same haircolor

I've not tried it in-game, but based on another texture I've seen and some poking of the RSH files then there's a "sisters_battle_sister_heads.rsh" file that has additional (random?) heads in it. It doesn't have a WTP file, but if you read Danimator's Making TGAs from RSH files: An Amateur's Guide then it should help you make a brand new WTP file for them.

ah fantastic IBBoard, that sounds like the problem!

i will have a go at that today.
the sister shown in army painter colours the hair, and so do some ingame, but not all. that sounds like the problem

ok im getting really peeved now!
i followed the tutorial ok but when i try to convert my _default and default_dirt TGA files into WTP it said i need a dirt file. im pretty sure i have made a grey dirt file, with no alpha channel.
im not sure why it isnt picking it up, but is it the way i saved the files?
had a bit of trouble getting TGA to come up in the save as format dropdown.

think its to do with 32 bit or something!
any info would be great. if not, can i give someone the two tga files i have extracted and see if they can compile them into a WTP?

_dirt should be 8-bit grey-scale with black where you're team colouring and white everywhere else (you know the drill from the other files you've edited). The only other reason it might not recognise it is if it is compressed.

As a general guide then _default should be 1MB for a 512x512 texture or 256KB for a 256x256 texture and all of the other layers should be about 256KB for 512x512 or 64KB for 256x256.

Oh dear, that was bad timing. I've had my HDDs go recently. I've still got to get one sent back and replaced under warranty at some point. Hope it isn't anything too major.

Software rather than hardware troubles then. Glad it's sorted and I'll try to get your download approved fairly soon after you update it.
