BBC news report mentions one of Time's top inventions of the year - something called the Loc8tor. It's a digital device that detects postage-sized tags that you attach to things you lose often. You then use the device a little like sonar crossed with a metal detector and it bleeps louder the closer you get to what you're looking for.
The one problem I saw is the one they mention at the end:
But the main problem with the Loc8tor is that it is likely to fall victim to exactly the problem that it aims to solve.
"Oh no, things are so small I keep losing them. I know what, lets buy an expensive yet small device that can find them, because that'll never get lost"
