I'm now officially a student a sheffield university, got my union card and computer accound details today, so this is my first go on the internet since startin.

It's great, been out to loads of events during freshers week and drank copious amounts of alcohol.

Upcoming this week is Fuzz Club on Thursday - The Union Rock night, give it a go snowboarding and films for 50p in the first week, 1.70 normally,

Fuzz club? bet that gets alot of passing interest ;)

Took them long enough to sort out your Uni net details! What restrictions/rules have you got? Are you enjoying the undoubtably huge bandwidth? :D

And as for copious amounts of alcohol - thats normal student life from what I've been told :D

(Not that he ever drinks of course :P - Abi)

[edit] Just thought - have you got a Uni email addy? or are they going to tell you about that earlier. Just wondering what Psych addys would be like (mine was a co.umist.ac.uk cos it was computing)

I've only been here since sunday mind. I registered on t**sday which is when I got my union card (they're NUS as well) and my username/password

The basic rule is nothing illegal, but it does say that no active monitoring of usage goes on unless they have a report.

The inly download had was a patch, so I didn't clock it

The events are cool, went to Pop Tarts on Sat, 60s 70s 80s 90s cheese and old skool, bought tickets for the BBQ on Sun but then later found the tickets were for the club night not the actual BBQ, an we ended up stayin in the halls cos there were games an stuff goin on, then we went to the pub up the road just before last orders and ended up staying past legal drinking up time (oops).

Went to Vodka Revolt@Kingdom on Monday, which was in the City centre, but I ended up skiving a few drinks/ride home as I couldnt get to a cash point :(

Some of the lads went out last night to a fancy dress do at Kingdom but I called it a night cos i had no fancy dress, money (damn cashback machine not arriving) or energy.

I'm gonna get dressed soon (lollers at sutdent life) wander into the union, get some cash/dinner, see about the snowboarding and cinema then into town for a browse round and buy a face cloth (the dishcloth is a bit rough  )

One of my mates is taking a spring Neuroscience module on my course and ive picked a biomed one which I think he might be on, ive got a sociology module, another biomed, and a health and related research

Ive got tuesdays off, never start b4 10, most at 11 and psych is only down the road. If i get the right lab class I might finish at 1 on a friday as well

Ah, k, thought you had to have more than 3 hours per week! Thought you moved in on Saturday though.

Fancy Dress eh? reminds me of my one and only trip to the AU (Athletics Union at Piccadilly 21s in Manchester) kinda strange night - crap poppy cheese/charts R&B and oddballs in togas.

Sure Uni is shooting itself in the foot by telling you "no active monitoring". Manchester has a "no porn etc" rule, a "no breeching copyright" rule and an extra "no servers" rule, which includes P2P cos they act as file servers of a sort.

But a cashback machine? huh?

they have a special cash back machine? or is it just the normal switch/maestro machine and I'm being daft? :D

And mum just said you only had 3 hours timetabled at first - thought you had to have something more than that!

Have fun - remember, Uni is much easier than real life!
