RE: Pratchett in the Movies

Postby IBBoard at 25 Aug 2001, 20:22

I heard ages ago that one of the film companies was gonna turn Pratchett's Gnomes Trilogy (Diggers, Truckers and Wings) into computer animated films.
Does anyone one know who was gonna do it? or a release date?
And does anyone think that it will be any good?  or will it not be faithful to the books? (so that it _quote_ "appeals to a wider auidience" _end quote_ as the producers would say)
Out now: Dawn of War Texture/Skin Downloads
At v0.1: WarFoundry (open source, cross-platform, multi-system army creation application)

I think that it was gonna be by Dreamhouse or Dreamworks or something.  I think I read about it in the Metro, the local paper which you can pic up free on the buses.

Just to dig up an old topic (while I'm sifting through and deleting old junk) I saw some more on this in the past few months or so. It was called Troll Bridge, and according to the Wikipedia article filming was over in 2004.

The official Troll Bridge website is all still up and running, though, with fairly recent updates, so all is not lost :)

Sky are also having a big budget version of Hogfather done for this Xmas. It's got famous people in it, whose names I can't remember just now....

David Jason? And the guy who plays Lurch in the Adams Family (or so I vaguely remember from rumours).

Shame we don't have Sky :(

Yeah. But it's bound to wind up on terrestial at some point. Sky wouldn't miss out on an oppurtunity to make more money out o something after all.... :?

Well yeah, but not for a while and probably not at Christmas (unless it's next Christmas).

Sky originally made Blackadder Back & Forth 'exclusively' for the Millenium Dome, then it was 'exclusively' on Sky, and then it came out on video and DVD :D

Ah, well the Beeb were involved in the 'Back & Forth' production as well since they have some sort of claim on the Blackadder 'rights' - and I think that they're tied into the production of 'Hogfather' too; must re-read that SFX article....
