Hello from the Netherlands!

Postby Shidima at 30 Jul 2009, 07:32

Hi, i just registerd today. Im 27 and live in (as mentioned) Holland. Ive been collecting warhammer / 40k for 5 or 6 years now. Recently got into playing some more.

I have orcs & gobos / Oger kingdoms for fantasy and Imp guard, Ultramarines and Biel-tan eldar for 40k. Hope to be able to play some more in the future tho. But this depends on my slacker of a brother 8)

Welcome to the forums :)

It sounds like an interesting collection of armies you have. I've got Orks for 40K and I keep thinking that if I ever played Warhammer again I'd replace my High Elves and Empire armies with Orcs and Goblins. There's just something slightly more satisfying about charging at the enemy for the fun of the fight rather than worrying about detailed strategy. I guess it's more "playing for fun" than "playing for the win" (for me at least).

I hope your brother is slightly more useful than mine was at times. There were a number of battles that we agreed during the week that he then skipped at the weekend. We were only in our early teens at that point, though :)

I don't like fantasy that much, not to say I don't have an army of tomb lords and skaven.

Isn't Ulthwe what all the cool kids play, like Ultramarines for Space Marines? ;)

To be fair, I think I prefer the Ulthwe colours over most of the other Eldar colours, especially GW's newer black and bone rather than black and bright yellow.

The black/and white is cool but I prefer white/green. I have always liked those colors, since I was a kid I have had a lot of white/green stuff. Infact, my current pair of shoes that I use are white and green.

Biel-Tan had its spotlight as the "main" eldar with DoW1. But that is about the same time GW made the "main" eldar the white/black Ulthwe, and that's the last we saw of Biel-Tan on the big screen.

I like the white and green of Biel-tan better than the other eldar. As for fantasy i like the fact that even tho you make a strategy the orcs & gobo's still do what they want.

The random stuff like animosity end the Doom Diver Catapult are wonderful!

Animosity was especially fun when fighting against Orcs - you just knew they weren't going to make it to your lines without falling apart! That said, it is also quite characterful, if a bit time consuming. I think they've generally tried to streamline 40K too much to include it for Orks. That plus it's more mobs than larger regiments, so the in-fighting would be on a smaller scale anyway.

Skaven. Rat-ogre just makes me lol at the look and name. I can't resist Skaven.

In all fantasy and so fourth I always like the undead, necromancy, ect.(Death Knight in World of Warcraft, Undead in Warcraft 3, Necromancer in Diablo 2, Necromancer in Guild Wars, Pale Master in Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2) and that kept on with my tomb lords army. I would love a game of warhammer fantasy thats good. The PC titles in the strategy games are a bad mix of total war and an over zealous wc3 hero system. I played the beta for WAR(Warhammer Age of Reckoning) and it was fun, but it seemed like a rip-off of World of Warcraft to an extent, and the lack of end game content made me sad. The old 20 bit windows 98 warhammer tomb lords game was only mildly entertaining due to the gore(the red splashes back then were very gorey) of the Tomb Lords.

But really. Rat people? Beat that.
