I don't actually play BFG, no. However, I did have a few games of BFG during a GoD (Galaxy of Damnation) Campaign that I played in with some friends at Uni. Having played original Space Fleet and quite liked it, I was actually rather pleased with BFG as an update to this excellent genre of 40K universe combat

In the GoD game, we split conflicts between BFG and 40K. At any given planet there was a possiblity of encountering a defence fleet / installations. Of if you ran up against a world owned by another player, you could squar eoff against their fleet. I played Imperial Guard - so had an entirely Imperial Navy fleet - no Space Marine Battle Barges or anything like that.

Of course, some the early stage games were a bit daft. We had 12000 points worth of fleet each - and we had the models for it. So one of my early encounters did involve 12000 points of Imperial ships bearing down on about 2000 points of Orks.....

Yeah, it was pretty impressive to look at.

Of course, the downside was that it took for-ev-ah to set up the Imperial Fleet and about 4 turns for them tp turn the Orks into so much floating slag. :D

Well, yeah, but the flying garbage can look does suit the greenies.

Doesn't make them look any better, though.

A friend and I entered into the competition the Journal ran for BFG - design a new ship - he designed a new Ork Kroozer based off a captured Imperial ship (lots of extra spiky bitz, some extra 'wings') while I opted for the obvious gap in the Imperial Navy - a fighter carrier - comically named the Gavagor-class carrier.

Having sent off our entries we were annoyed to see GW's new ships unveiled about a month later - a new Ork Kroozer based off of captured Imperial ships and a capital-scale fighter carrier. Grr.

Never played BFG, although being the collect-everything-GW person I am it does hold some interest.

As for the Marine escorts - have you tried eBay and places like that?

One of the best buys I saw on eBay recently was Man o' War for £1. Complete, with all the pieces, rulebooks & templates. Tempted? You bet I was.... :?

BFG is one of the games I really wish GW would turn into a PC game. It would be a great RTS - especially if they did it Homeworld style with full 3D rotation. :D

You know I heard there was a mod being developed for that Game, but one my HW-2 disc doesn't work and I heard the Mod Team called it off..but it would have been So nice if Relic could do that, might even bring BFG back off the Specilist Gaming Section too.

Hmm...I've always been a little disappointed with the HW mods I've seen. I'd rather it was done as a proper GW-licensced product. Relic would definitely do a good job on it, though.

I doubt it would drag BFG out of the Fanatic stable; GW seem pretty determined to keep their stores focussed on WH40K and WFB.

 Hey, strategy idea for GW. Boost sales of BFG / models for BFG by:

...bringing out a BFG PC game :D

Pure genius, I think. :o
