Question Gav Thorpe and Graham McNeill

Postby IBBoard at 25 Jul 2006, 09:02

Last night I received an email from Angron of Warvault.net. Warvault 2 is now up and running, so I'll be signing up to that soon. As part of the re-opening, Angron had the following message:

Angron from Warvault.net wrote:So far, both Gav Thorpe and Graham McNeill, both esteemed GW writers, have
agreed to do Q+A sessions. That means that every member of every forum
gets to submit one question to each of the two!

As admins of forums that will hopefully be signing back up to WV, here's
what you'll need to do;

Make a thread where members can post their questions. Make sure it's one
each to each guy!

Then, in mid-august when the cut off date appears, collect the post in a
document and send them here. Team Warvault will then organise them into
something.. coherent, then the Q+A will begin. Each member will be
officially credited in the interview as the question's creator, etc.

For a question to be submitted, the user will need to specify a few things;

System.
Army.
Class - Rules, Fluff, Modelling, Rumours.

Also, take note that Mr. McNeill is EX-Games Workshop now, so let's make
sure no one bothers to ask him rumours etc, as I doubt he'll be able to
release any info at all now...

So, what questions does anyone have? I'll think of some later :)

System - n/a
Race - n/a
Class - Rumours

Dear Both,
can you confirm the rumour that GW has become a soulless corporate machine, intent on increasingly ripping people off for little bits of metal and plastic, whilst stomping on anyone who takes his/her interest in the hobby any further than the limits defined in your (legally dubious) IP laws enforced by your 'Legal Team' who often remain incommunicado if you want to ask them anything?

Yours

Graham's no longer at GW, so I don't think he'll be able to answer that one :D

Well, if it's not too late, I'd like an answer to this one:
System: WHFB
Army: Empire
Class: Rumour/rules

Is there any truth to the rumours now flooding the net that the Empire detachment rules are being removed from 7th edition? If so why? Is there a plan to replace this unique rule with something as unique? ok, I know it's really 3 questions in one, but there are an awful lot of people who want an answer to all 3.

cheers

No more than most other games companies, or Hasbro as we now like to call them. :(
Ego Ordinis Mallei Inquisitor, per auctoritate Digamma, Decimatio, Duodecies, ultimum exterminatum planetae [insert here] cum extrema celeritate impero.

(roughly; 'I, Ordo Malleus Inquisitor, hereby authorise Death, Destruction, Doom, the total extermination of the planet "blah" with the most extreme and imperative speed.')

In a galaxy of a million worlds, what does the death of one matter?

For Gav:
System: none
Race: none
Class: personal
Being a regular White Dwarfer turned author, do you prefer the story writing, or do you sometimes look back nostalgically at your magazine days?

For Graham:
System: 40K
Race: Space Marines
Class: Personal
Having written both recent Ultramarine and Horus Heresy books, how much leeway did GW allow you in creating your own themes and ideas? Many of the older novels (e.g. Jack Yeovil and Ian Watson) seem fairly innovative with the young and undeveloped 40K Universe, so did the more developed universe restrict you, and were there different levels of restrictions on the Heresy work?

And they all need to be in by tomorrow morning for Angron, so I'll send everything off now :)
