So Vitae Emperatus means the life of the emperor? Therefore saying
Ordo Vitae Emperatus is the order that protecs the life of the emperor?

1. A curriculum vitae.
2. A short account of a person's life.

Nothing to do with blood...

Yeah, that's the English usage of it. A C.V. is a curriculum vitae, or a review of your life achievements and work history that you hand in when you apply for a job. Americans call it a resume.

vita : life, way of life.

So Vitae Emperatus would probably be the Emperor's Life chapter (because Latin often has to have words swapped when translated) although I've looked up Emperor as Imperator.
At that Ordo Vitae Emperatus would be "The Order of the Emperor's Life", or the order who are dedicated to the Emperor's life. Not quite sure how you'd interpret that though, because the Ordo Xenos are the alien hunting arm of the Inquisition. It probably could be taken as "the order that protects the life of the Emperor", but that job already falls to the Adeptus Custodes.

Give me a break....So it should be Ordo Vitae Imperator in order to mean the order which is dedicated to the Emperor's life. Now we've got a problem...the emperor is sustained by the golden throne and that's not exactly what I would call life...Anyway.How would you translate "the order dedicated to the emperor" or "the order dedicated to do the emperor's will"?

Sorry, I don't have a clue - simple latin I can do, more complex latin or translating things into latin I'm not so good at :\ Try googling for a latin translator. There are a few of them out there (I found one, but cound't get a working link, every time I tried a link it that wasn't a form submission, it gave me an error about too many people accessing it) and then you'll just have to keep working at that.

And remember that 40K isn't actually Latin, it's High Gothic for the most part (also known as "GW are using Latin with a few minor tweaks and calling it a new language so that you can get away with it not being perfect")!

Dedico Perficio Imperator Volo

*tries site* damnit, stupid Java isn't installed and working properly at work, I'll have to wait until I'm at home :) Don't ask me why but I'm the kind of person who has skimmed through my g/f's Latin to English dictionary and gone "cool, didn't realise that word came from there" :D I know, it's kinda sad!

i may be a little late to the party but i'll toss in my 2 cents.

Vita (Vee-Taa) = Life
Vitae (Vie-Tay) = Blood

They look alike for a reason, In greek and latin cultures blood was seen as the physical manifestation your "lifeforce" as such a lot of latin writers used the words interchangably.

So that would probably make your life blood "Vitae Vita" (blood of life)

Interesting....especially that Vitae Vita...although I don't seem to understand how one can use such a phrase as a chapter name....
If I think anything else[or new] I'll post it.So far thanks for your opinions-just keep them coming!

Mine wasn't an idea for a chapter name, just a general rambling about the words you were using and that Sandwich provided :)
