Gun drone, i just really dislike Kroot in a Tau army. Think it ruins the whole feel to it.

Don't have a clue, never used or seen either of them in battle.
Model wise I prefer the Kroot with the cool spikey hair things, and I like the idea of the Kroot Mercenaries armies and the shape shifting and stuff, but I can imagine how they might ruin a nice neat army like the Tau so easily.

kroot are awful, couldnt have them ruining my lovely anime-esque tau force... gotta be gun drones.. i love how much they frustrate my opponents..

Yeah, thats the one drawback of Kroot - they look a little Ork-ish and out of place in the clean lines of a Tau army! But I'm sure someone somewhere came up with reasonable fluff for it.

i was gonna convert tau firewarriors to carry close combat weapons and use kroot rules or cheat and make up some... but now i mightn't bother..

It'd be cool as an alternate rule set, but it might be a bit difficult creating the background fluff - especially considering how weak the normal Tau are in combat (from what I've seen)

ive had firewarriors beat back charging possessed marines in combat, and coomander farsight has got some close combat abilities so.. at the moment its a very crude idea, unlikely to be acted on as im trying to get into fantasy with dark elves

Good luck with the Dark Elf army - I started out with High Elves (mainly because they came with 4th Ed) and I'm not so sure how good the 6th edition is (considering how little I played 5th Ed rules I decided I didn't need them )

its taken me about 5 months to assemble to squads of warriors.. and only one of the squads is painted, still i have all summer..
