No-one springs to mind as an Eldar or Tau player who has been around recently. More recent sign-ups have generally been through Skins@HWT and Dawn of War.

In terms of "chapters", the Tau have different worlds but generally have a single way of playing and just make selection changes to theme an army. The Eldar have Craftworlds that have different strengths and focuses, but overall I think they tend to be based on differences in troop choices (e.g. pick more Guardians than Aspect Warriors, or more of a bias for mounting troops in Wave Serpents/Falcons).

In part I think it depends on the play style you prefer. Eldar have some very powerful but quite delicate units that often need to be used just right or they're wasted. Tau, on the other hand, are more of a "normal soldier" army with an emphasis on shooting things at range and generally getting hacked to pieces in close combat!

I can't say much about Eldar. But Tau I have fought many times with my various SM chapters, as well as my Tyranid and Chaos Marines. Tau are Imperial guard with less durable but more dodgy type vehicles. They're highly manuverably but you lose your infantry in droves and don't really mind unless you lose a really large number same as the imperial guard infantry.

I think Tau is a great army due to the flexibility of the Kroot/Tau warrior set up letting you take either melee or ranged specialists without paying a ton of points for one do it all type trooper.

IF I was crazy enough to invest in a 4th? 7th? Army I'd go with Tau in a heart beat.

(Do you draw the line at roughly 5k Black Templar, 5k Iron Hand, and a full 2500 point Death wing and 2500 point Ravenwing army as one Space Marine or 4 different ones is the spacing for me)
