This story is inspired by the book 'Titanicus', written by Dan Abnett and published by Black Library.(http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Titans#Reaver_Class_Titan)
The formidable Putrius Ignix trudged across the ash waste of Hadia. The mighty frame of the Warlord- Class Titan cast a great shadow over its little brothers, a pair of Lucius Pattern Reavers. On all sides, a light wind swirled ash against the void shields, emitting a high pitched moan. It was like the cry of all the souls it had tormented in it's lifetime. These cries were like music to the corrupted machine spirits.
Princeps Augustas peered at his moderati. What was he doing with the auspex? 'Moderati Brutis, what are you doing to the auspex?'.
'Simply checking for faults my princeps.'
'In a warzone?'
'When is a better time for the enemy to corrupt our systems?'
'Very well. Continue previous tasks.'
'Understo-.'
The moderati's voice was cut short by the blurt of klaxons.
'Contacts!' he cried.
'All weapons charge.'Augustas ordered.
Even at this point, the mighty Warlord Titan Putrius Ignix had locked it's weapons onto the Imperial Warlord. Void missiles and Plasma traces crashed into it's shields, leaving horrifying scorch marks over the slightly exposed carapace. Then the Reavers joined in. Hundreds of rockets destroyed each weapon limb in a shower of shrapnel and scorching energy bursts.
'Weapon limbs destroy-'. The moderati never finished. A volcano cannon blast had broken the carapce in two, vertically. But that didn't kill him. It was the screech of the dying machine spirit that ripped his mind to shreds. His head exploded.
All the Chaos machines roared as the enemy fell. Their tiny bolters pelted the dead husk, as a sign of disgrace. But the outcry of the battered hull was cut short by the roar of engines. A Reaver exploded, as missiles struck it's carapace. 14 Thunderbolts ripped out of the dust, bolters blazing. Even as they locked onto the next Reaver, the tiny fliers were torn from existence by an almighty salvo of missiles from Putrius Ignix. Its Gatling Gun took care of the rest.
