Member cleanup

Postby IBBoard at 09 Jun 2008, 19:25

It's a little pointless posting this, since the people who need to know are the people who won't read it, but I'll post it anyway!

At the weekend I'll do another clean-up of the forum members. Anyone who hasn't visited in the past month and has zero posts will be deleted, after getting a warning email that I'll send soon. Members who haven't visited in the past six months may be deleted soon, but there's a somewhat larger number of those!

Prepare for the member count to drop!

A little, but not too much. It's more about having a forum that should be at a certain level of activity for the number of members it has, but not being there because most of the members aren't actually current active members. A few people are going already for having invalid email addresses:

  • erect01
  • Far
  • Reaper
  • Vein

wonder why people keep signing up here if they aren't going to post anything?

I don't know - they all got a warning email so they could have come back.

A few people like Tiederian, {Dark}insight and {Dark}insight I know from Hangar-8's forums and so they probably thought about it once (maybe when Hangar-8's site was down) and then didn't bother coming back.

40kradio signed up to post a spam message about their website and never came back after I deleted it (although I did say they weren't banned for posting it, just warned, and that they were welcome to join the community).

I guess some people just sign up and then don't have time. I'm registered on Relic News Forums and while I used to visit there a lot then I've not been visiting as much recently because I want to spend my time more productively than trawling half a dozen forums!
