GeorgeMoore has just signed up and been deleted for having a failed Hotmail address. Another 20 spammers have been blocked before they signed up by our new code, and an additional four were stopped by the alternate layout of our profile/registration form.

Mark-Jones and E-Allen have now been deleted for failed email addresses, while I also have my eye on another suspect user.

12 registrations have been blocked by the new code, and PLewis and SusanClark have now been deleted (SusanClark for a failed email address, and PLewis for having a similar style of address and registering from the same Iranian computer and just being far too suspicious).

[edit] Ditto for J_Lee being deleted after their similar-style email address failed.

RRodrigue and G_Green have now been deleted. Investigations into their visits will now commence!

Wailaki has now been deleted for posting spam, and there's another new member I'm keeping my eye on. Anti-spam code is otherwise working well - I'd guesstimate over 95% accuracy of stopping spam registrations

So far the anti-spammer code has stopped 327 spammers since 28th August, with 16 spammers successfully registering. 13 of those successful spammers would now be blocked by additional code, and a further two should be blocked by more code I'll be adding just as soon as I get confirmation that I won't be blocking legitimate users.

Accuracy so far is just over 95%


Thgirpo has been deleted for signing up from an EV1.net web server (not exactly plausable!), having a dubious Russian email address and appearing as a spammer on several other forums.

vancouver-motel has now been deleted for having a failed email address.

Since the last post only one spammer has got through and been deleted, one suspected spammer remains without enough information to remove them, and one legitimate member tried to sign up and succeeded. All of this while over 100 failed to get through the simple anti-spam checks. That's ~98% true positives, 100% true negatives, ~2% false negatives and 0% false positives on spammers, plus all of the ones blocked by other means that I don't get notification of!

I've just sent out a mass email to the users who have just been marked as 'pending deletion'. This covers all people with zero posts who haven't visited in the month of September. The cut-off date for deletions is somewhere around a week from now (or whenever I get a chance to around then).

Archangel has now been deleted, since his 'pending deletion' notification failed and bounced.

FirstSTar and Jerferolk2 have finally been deleted. FirstSTar signed up using a gmx.de account from an oriental ISP, and both users turn up on a variety of websites registered in the same time periods and with either no posts or a couple of spam posts.

DannyBSQ has also been deleted for repeated reports of his email address turning up under different spam names of the same format.

Saduyre9de has been deleted 5 minutes after signup for appearing on multiple other forums on a huge variety of topics within the last few days, and for having an email address whose domain is a porn site. They are also another signup from an EV1 server, so the whole block is now getting...erm...blocked.

DoctAlex has been deleted for being suspiciously drugs-related and having an email address from a domain that's new, has already had several changes of IP and name server, is full of dubious advertising links and is registered by one Chinese guy along with a large amount of other .org domains (all on the same server)

I've also closed the loophole that allowed him to register.

capeteritan has again been deleted for failing at our anti-spam filter the first time and turning up on a large amount of unconnected forums within the past few days on his second registration. From his other registrations, he looks like he'd have been a drugs spammer.

[edit] He also shares an EV1.net IP address with some previous spammers. An IP address that's been blacklisted for spam in most of the days of the past few months!

pete1964 has been deleted because his email address was for a 'spam' advert site (popunder and banners etc). All future similar accesses should now be blocked.
